Background: Canada's Stratford Shakespearean Festival is underway again....its sixth annual season...and the opening is a glittering, star-studded affair. Among the prominent guests, Mr. Fulton, the Minister of Justice, accompanied by his wife.

In the dark dress suit, Tom Patterson, the festival's originator.....Shortly before the curtain goes up, the main guest of opening night arrives, accompanied by a police escort.....the Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario, Mr. Mackay. The season will last twelve weeks this year, two weeks longer than last year's record-breaker.

The battle scene towards the end of the play, "Henry the Fourth, Part One," is one of the most acclaimed parts of the lavish production.
