    The Royal Air Force version of the Hercules is based on the Cl30E which is in service with the United States Air Force. It is a our-engined turboprop medium range transport aircraft, capable of carrying freight, troops, paratroops, stretcher cases or airdrop loads.

    The Cl30 entered service with Air Support Command in 1967, adding materially to the Command's tactical airlift capacity. The aircraft is replacing the Beverley and the Hastings.
