    PRESIDENT NASSER LED A RALLY IN CAIRO YESTERDAY (THURSDAY) TO MARK THE 13TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EGYPTIAN REVOLUTION. WITH THE PRESIDENT WERE REPRESENTATIVES OF LEADERS OF ARAB STATES ATTENDING A CONFERENCE IN CAIRO.

    AMONG PRESIDENT NASSER'S GUESTS WERE THE IRAQI PRIME MINISTER, MR. TAHER YEHIA AND DELEGATES FROM KUWAIT, ALGERIA, THE YEMEN AND SUDAN. THERE WERE NO REPRESENTATIVES PRESENT FROM TUNISIA, FOLLOWING THE BREAK BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES OVER THE PROBLEM OF ACHIEVING SOME FORM OF PEACE WITH ISRAEL.

    THE COUP D'ETAT OF 13 YEARS AGO BROUGHT PRESIDENT NASSER TO POWER AND THOUGH MUCH HAS BEEN DONE IN THE ECONOMIC FIELD IN THAT TIME, HE AGAIN REFERRED TO THE INTERNAL PLIGHT OF EGYPT WHERE THE RAPID GROWTH OF POPULATION WAS MAKING REAL PROGRESS DIFFICULT AND HAZARDOUS.

    HE ALSO SPOKE OF THE DANGERS OF OPEN WAR WITH SAUDI ARABIA OVER THE YEMEN BUT HE SAID EGYPT WAS READY TO WITHDRAW HER TROOPS IF PEACE WERE ACHIEVED THERE. IN ANOTHER SPEECH AT A MASS RALLY TODAY THE PRESIDENT ANNOUNCED THAT PEACE TALKS WERE NOW GOING ON BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES. HE SAID THEY MUST TRY TO END THE WAR IN WHICH ARAB SOLDIER.
