The Chairman of the National Sports Council of Kenya, Mr. Isaac Lugonzo, has said that?
The Chairman of the National Sports Council of Kenya, Mr. Isaac Lugonzo, has said that his country would support any ban introduced by the Supreme Council of Sport in Africa against British sportsmen if the British Lions Rugby tour of South Africa takes place later this year.
He said that the Supreme Council were expected to take a final decision at a special meeting later this month on whether or not to impose such a ban. Mr. Lugonzo said that if the Supreme Council did decide to introduce such a ban against British sportsmen, then "Kenya will definitely join hands with the rest of Africa in placing a total boycott on Great Britain", unless the British cancelled the forthcoming South African tour.
Mr. Lugonzo said that it was clear that the voice of Africa was now being heard everywhere. Through sports meetings, Africans were able to extend ideas. He disagreed with the International Olympic Committee who said there should be no politics in sport. He thought there wa a "lot of politics in sport".
