Later in the day Mr. Arafat met a senior French Foreign Ministry official Gabriel Robin who went on to have talks with the Lebanese Prime Minister Selim Al-Hoss.
SYNOPSIS: Hussein Khomeini, the Ayatollah Khomeini's grandson arrived in Beirut at the head of a delegation of Iranian clergy. His meeting with the PLO leader yasser Arafat was made at the request of the Ayatollah and follows strained relations between the Shi'ite Moslem community in South Lebanon and the Palestinian guerrilla movement. Mr. Arafat was one of the first Arab leaders to visit the Ayatollah, after the February revolution.
Lebanese Prime Minister Selim Al-Hoss spent Saturday evening with senior French Foreign Ministry official Gabriel Robin. Mr. Robin said he had been sent to Beirut following the French government's statement last Wednesday (17 October) that new efforts should be made to help Lebanon. He said he was consulting the Lebanese authorities on what the French government can do to help, either alone or within the framework of the United Nations.
