  • Description

This coverage in of the Minutemen 111 ??? a three-stage, solid-fuel ICDM deployed in hurdened, underground ???.

Nearly 200 years ago at Lexington and Concord, American Minutemen stood and fought to defend Liberty at all costs.

Now in 1975, buried beneath the prairies and farmland of Wyoming, Montana, Missouri and the Dakotas, 1,000 more powerful Minutemen stand ready to protect Americans.

Enclosed in concrete reinforced silos under the watchful eye of the Strategic Air Command's missile crews, today's Minutemen are missiles, -- an important part of our nation's nuclear deterrent force.

Two-man crews stand continuous alert ever ready to respond to an offensive threat against the United States. Once the launch procedure is completed by both men, each 20th Century Minuteman can carry three nuclear weapons over intercontinental distances.

In early July, the Air Force will complete the installation of 550 of these new Minuteman III's in their underground launch tubes.

Thus, today's Minutemen stand ready to defend the liberty earned so hard nearly 200 years ago by their predecessors.
