Background: The Minister for Transport and Communication in Congo-Kinshasa, M. Nendaka, was invited to L'Otraco recently to see latest modernisation developments. L'Otraco is the headquarters of the country's transport authority.
L'Otraco's President, M. Paul Kabasubabo, showed the Minister a new computer that has already gone into use.
The computer, an IBM 1401, is expected to speed up the vast amount of administrative work involved at L'Otraco.
M. Kabasubabo then invited M. Nendaka and other officials to inspect some new carriages, recently put into service by the Congo-Kinshasa railway service.
The party travelled in the train to see yet another of the country's transportation innovations -- La Musonge, a new passenger-carrying barge.
The party boarded the barge for an introductory voyage.
