Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations, Mr. Yosef Tekoah, made it clear on Wednesday (13 November) that Israel still refused to deal with the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO). He was addressing the General Assembly shortly after the delegates had heard the leader of the PLO, Mr. Yasser Arafat, make what was generally considered to be a "hard-line" speech.
Mr. Tekoah ???oribed the PLO as "murderers, assassins and a band of cut-throats". He said they had no place in international diplomatic efforts.
Mr. Tekoah said Israel would not permit the establishment of PLO authority in any part of Palestine. He said the PLO would not be forced on the Palestinian Arabs, and the organisation would not be tolerated by the Jews of Israel.
