ALSO PRESENT AT THE CEREMONY WAS THE U.A.R. FOREIGN MINISTER, DR.MAHMOUD FAWZY, FIRST CHAMBERLAIN SALAH ALSHABED AND LT.-GEN.RASHAD HASSAN.

IN A SPEECH AFTER HE HAD PRESENTED HIS CREDENTIALS TO PRESIDENT NASSER. MR IBRAHIMI SAID HIS PRESIDENT, GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE DESIRED THE GROWTH OF FRIENDLY TIES BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES.

THE RECENT PROCLAMATION LAYING DOWN THE BROAD OUTLINE OF THE NEW FEDERATION BETWEEN EGYPT, SYRIA AND IRAQ HAS BEEN WELCOMED IN ALGIERS BY PRIME MINISTER AHMED BEN BELLA. HE TOLD A PRESS CONFERENCE THAT HIS COUNTRY FULLY SUPPORTED THE IDEA AND SAID: "WE THINK THAT THIS TIME SOMETHING SERIOUS HAS HAPPENED IN THE ARAB WORLD." IT WAS REPORTED THAT EVEN BEFORE THE UNION OF ALGERIA, TUNISIA, AND MOROCCO INTO A "GREATER MARCHED", ALGERIA MIGHT SEEK TO JOIN THE FEDERATION ON HER OWN. SUCH A MOVE WOULD BE PRECEDED BY A PLEBISCITE.
