    Bulgaria will supply India scarce industrial raw materials and participate in join scientific and commercial ventures under agreements signed by the two countries on Wednesday (6 March).

    Three agreements were signed in a ceremony in New Delhi, presided over by Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi and her Bulgarian counterpart Stanko Todorov. The ceremony took place in the Ashoka Hall of the Indian President's House.

    The first agreement covered the supplying of scarce raw industrial materials and joint participation in commercial and scientific ventures by the two countries.

    The second agreement is aimed at an expansion of trade and payments protocol between India and Bulgaria. The third waives the need for visas between the two countries. the previous long-term agreements between the two countries was about to expire.

    The new protocol calls for the stepping-up of Indian exports of non-traditional goods. Bulgaria had not kept an earlier promise to increase its import percentages of these commodities.

    Now, Bulgaria will take more imports from India while supplying it with materials like zinc, lead, copper and synthetic fibres, and may also build ships for India.

    the agreement on scientific exchange calls for co-operation in exchanging information on items like turbines, tractors, pumping equipment and food processing with Bulgaria providing technical assistance to India in the mining and metallurgy fields.

    Those taking part in the signing ceremony, apart from the two Prime Ministers, were Bulgaria's Machine Building Minister Chakarov, India's Industrial development Minister Subramaniam, Bulgaria's Foreign Trade Minister Ivan Nedev, and Professor Chattopadhya, India's Foreign Trade Minister.
