Mgr. Boulos Meouchy, Maronite Patriarch of Lebanon, left Beirut Airport, May 11, for Rome. Government Ministers, French, Spanish and Vatican Ambassadors and a large crowd of Lebanese citizens crowded the airport to wish him 'bon voyage'.
A guard of honour was drawn up near the Middle East Airlines plane that was to fly Mgr. Meouchy to the Vatican and an audience with Pope John.
General Franco of Spain has extended an invitation to the patriarch to spend a few days as his guest. He also has engagements in Paris.
In Rome he will "repay" the visit made 5-yrs ago by Pope John XXIII - then Pontifical Delegate to the Marial Congress in the Lebanon.
