    Thursday night (25 August) canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau announced that his country would accept some of the Asians expelled from Uganda.

    On Friday the Canadian High commissioner in London. Mr Andre Bissonette explained that the Asians would be admitted to Canada under the current points system. Immigration officers use the points system to assess on applicants work, skills, education and other vital points.

    While Canada has announced its willingness to accept some of the expelled Asians some cities in Britain have made it clear that they will accept none of the immigrants. One family has already reached Leicester from Uganda and the city council says it is the last family they can cope with.

    Canada's agreement to accept some expelled Uganda Asians was warmly received in London. But many British cities oppose the influx. An official of Loicester explains why no more Asians can be admitted to her city...The Canadian Deputy High Commissioner explained Friday how the Asians would be screened.
