ALTHOUGH IT IS PRIMARILY AN AGRICULTURAL SHOW, THROUGH THE YEARS IT HAS INCREASINGLY BECOME A "SHOP WINDOW" FOR INDUSTRIAL FIRMS - AMONG THEM MANY EUROPEANS COMPANIES SEEKING WIDER MARKETS IN EAST AFRICA. THE 1964 SHOW IS THE FIRST HELD IN INDEPENDENT KENYA.

    ON HIS WAY AROUND THE EXHIBITS, MR. KENYATTA WAS PRESENTED WITH A SAHIWAL BULL - A BREED OF PAKISTAN CATTLE WHICH IS THOUGHT TO BE PARTICULARLY SUITED TO KENYA'S ARID NORTH.

    THE BRITISH FIRM OF HILLMAN WERE SHOWING THEIR BABY CAR - THE 'IMP' - FOR THE FIRST TIME IN EAST AFRICA.

    MR. KENYATTA SPENT A LOT OF TIME LOOKING AT EXHIBITS IN THE LARGE WEST GERMAN STAND. THE PRIME MINISTER WAS SHOWN AROUND BY THE WEST GERMAN CONSUL GENERAL. THE THEME OF THE STAND IS "PARTNERS IN PROGRESS"...
