TRANSCRIPT: REPORTER: "Mr Allon do you see a real danger that, after all, Israel might be suspended for this session of the General Assembly?"

ALLON: "I don't exclude the possibility that such a thing would take place, nevertheless, as a result of our diplomatic intensified work during the last six months, we are witnessing a growing number of countries... even among them some who are not voting for us on previous occasions .. who do not tolerate the suspension of Israel. Therefore I don't think that the extremists in the Arab camp will mange to get which will suspend Israel's participation. Nevertheless, we have to be on the alert because according to the procedures of the Assembly, such a motion can be proposed during the deliberation towards the end of the Assembly, and I don't exclude the possibility, even if they can't get a majority for suspending Israel away they will try to create a situation in which a Democles sword will be hanging over our heads either as a .. as an expression of pressure of to turn our membership in the assembly to a conditioned one. so we have to be on the alert as we have been until now and we shall do out best to avert it."

Background: Israeli Foreign Minister Yigal Allon told newsmen at Ben Gurion airport on Monday(21 September) that he would be on the alert for any moves against his country in the forthcoming General Assembly of the United Nations.

Mr.Allon was leaving Israel to head his country's U.N. delegation. It's believed the main reason for Mr.Allon's early departure is for him to meet with U.N. delegates from other nations and lobby for their support.

The first people the Foreign Minister will look up are the Americans. He's likely to have lengthy discussions with U.S.secretary of State, Dr. Henry Kissinger.

He is also likely to renew contacts with several African countries who have lately expressed disappointment over Arab promises.

Mr.Allon said he does not exclude the possibility that Israel may be suspended from this session of the General Assembly, but added that he believed support for Israel was growing.

He said that the Israeli delegation would be "on the alert" for any such moves of motion to turn the nation's U.N. membership into a conditioned one.
