A crowd gathered at Salisbury Airport, Southern Rhodesia, July 26th. to bid farewell to Mr. Patrick Matimba, Southern Rhodesian African clerk and political detainee, who was flying to self-imposed exile in Holland with his Dutch wife and four years old daughter.
Mr. Matimba who was detained under the emergency powers five months ago was escorted from Salisbury prison to the airport where he was reunited with his family including his mother and father.
Before leaving he said, "If I set foot in Rhodesian again I will be arrested and detained."
During her husband's detention, Mrs. Matimba who is expecting a baby soon, conducted their printing business at Salisbury which she has now sold up.
Friends of all races waved as the reunited family flew off, at the Government's expenses, in a Britannia Aircraft to Holland.
