TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 2: LEMIEUX: Oh yes I have been asked to move to Quebec City because the cabinet apparently is meeting there to discuss the health of the situation in the province. But after due consideration I am unable to accept the invitation because I have duties here to people who have asked my advice in relation to their rights, and relation to the police operation I have certain cases that I have to appear in court about, I don't have money to move to Quebec and to carry out my duties there, and the system of communication that I have with the front is that through the media and I think that perhaps I would be prejudicing that system of communication if I were to move to Quebec City and I think the government disposes of me by which Mr ??? can engage in elaborate conversations with the cabinet including through direct TV and the radio and if that is not satisfactory he can perhaps fly there with various government aircraft in no time at all, so the prejudice done to me by moving to Quebec is so great that I can't accept it in all sincerity and I apologise to him publicly for not having been able to communicate this to him privately. The reason is that I was pressed to start this press conference and I was waiting for a call which was late calling, so therefore I'm forced to answer his invitation through the media."

Background: Quebec Liberation Front Lawyer, Robert Lemieux, who walked out of a meeting with Canadian Authorities on Tuesday night(13th) while discussing the possibilities of the release of Liberation Front Hostages James Cross and Pierre Laporte, told a crowded press conference yesterday (Wednesday, 14th October) that he had rejected a suggestion that the talks be transferred to Quebec.

Lemieux said the provincial government had offered to transfer the talks to Quebec, but he had declined to move from Montreal because a satisfactory network between the kidnappers and the mass media had been established there. He felt that any moves to Quebec would prejudice future communication.
