Background: Jordan's King Hussein began a private visit to the United Kingdom with an hour long meeting with new British Prime Minister James Callaghan in London on Tuesday (13 April).
The talks, which were held at Number 10 Downing Street -- the Prime Minister's official residence -- centred on Middle east affairs.
For Mr. Callaghan it was his first meeting with a head of state since he became Prime Minister last week.
King Hussein was accompanied by several officials when he arrived at Number 10, including Defence Minister Zeid Al-Rifai.
He described the talks as "'cordial and very satisfactory".
The visit to Britain is part of an almost worldwide tour by the King, who has already been to the U.S., Japan, and Australia.
