Jordan's King Hussein was at Amman Airport on Monday (26 June) to greet his guest, President Idi Amin of Uganda. The African leader's visit came as a surprise to most diplomats and newsmen in Amman, and followed his visits to Syria, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
The two leaders were to have lengthy talks in Amman - and before the Ugandan president left on Monday they issued a joint communique condemning what they describe as the recent Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
The communique says that during the talks President Amin reaffirmed that the government and people of Uganda would continue to support the struggle of the Arab world to secure the withdrawal of Israel from all occupied Arab territory.
The two leaders jointly reaffirmed their total adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter, and the Organisation of African Unity.
