Cotton fabrics got another boost in Paris, June 2. The Parisian "grands couturiers" put on a show of exclusive models - all of them made from "cotton-based" materials.
First on the programme at the Pavillon d'Ermenonville was a white beach ensemble, tent-like in shape and with brief shorts, by Hermes. Next, another beach outfit, in chocolate and white, with large straw hat, by Jacques Heim.
Charles Montaigne showed a skirt and shorts, with gay beach-wear print, and in thicker material, bolero and slacks in black and red. Other items and their creators were: white and black printed ensemble, large straw hat (Madeleine de Rauch); white top, "pantalon" with giant vivid Scottish tartan and huge hat of same material (Pierre Cardin); yellow and white Scottish ensemble with large yellow straw hat (Heim); dress in white guipure lace, pink hat (Maggy Rouff); champagne guipure dress (Balmain); fully pleated white dress (Rouff); champagne evening dress, guipure top, large pink and green belt (de Rauch); plain white dress with broderie anglaise top (Christian Dior); white evening dress with big matching pink flowers; and a white dress, with large black knot at the decollete (Heim).
