Background: In Paris a founder of the Egyptian Communist Party. Monsieur Henri Curiel, was assassinated at his home on Thursday (4 May), and police said an extreme rightist group had claimed responsibility for the killing. M. SYNOPSIS: The Rue Rollin in Paris, where M. Curiel had lived, had returned to quiet normality on Friday (5 May). Minutes after the murder, a man claiming to represent the "Delta Commando" telephoned a French News Agency, saying the organisation had killed M. Curiel. He alleged the dead man was a KGB agent, and a traitor to France.
Police said Delta Commando was the assassination arm of an organisation which had fought to keep Algeria French in the 1960's. Monsieur Curiel had supported Algerian independence. Last year, he was arrested and ordered expelled from France for alleged international subversion. The order was revoked.
