    Delegates from a number of West African nations, together with airline representatives and other transportation experts, met in Dakar on Monday (January 27) to discuss the promotion of tourism in the West Africa region.

    Among the delegates were visitors from Ivory Coast, Mali and Mauritania, all of whom-with Senegal-are members of the office Inter-Etats du Tourisme Africaine (Inter-State Office of African Tourism).

    The meeting was opened with a speech of welcome from Senegal's Minister of tourism, M. Moustapha Fall, who stressed the importance of tourist revenue in the economy of the nations represented at the conference.

    In Senegal itself, tourists provide a valuable source of foreign currency and efforts are being made to increases hotel accommodation and widen the scope of tourist attractions which already include magnificent game parks and fine beaches.
