    THE POSTS WERE SET UP UNDER THE TERMS OF THE PASSPORT CONTROL AGREEMENT BETWEEN SOUTH AFRICA AND THE TERRITORIES.

    BARBED WIRE FENCES, FILMED ON THE BORDER AT LOBATSI, BECHUANALAND, AND RAMATHABANA, TRANSVAAL, WERE 6 FT HIGH AT SOME POINTS.TWENTY-FOUR HOUR PATROLS ARE AIMED AT HALTING MEMBERS OF THE MILITANT AFRICAN UNDERGROUND MOVEMENT FROM EITHER ESCAPING INTO THE PROTECTORATE OR ENTERING SOUTH AFRICA.IN THE PAST THERE HAS BEEN NO CHECK ON THE BORDERS.

    THE BORDER POSTS WILL CHECK "FOREIGN AFRICANS" WHO FLOOD INTO SOUTH AFRICA IN SEARCH OF JOBS.BUT THEIR PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO STOP THE ENTRY AND EXIT OF POTENTIAL SABOTEURS AND POLITICAL AGENTS.
