    President Marien Ngouabi of Congo Brazzaville returned home on Friday (11 September) from the third summit conference of non-aligned countries in Lusaka, Zambia. He was accompanied by Francisco Macias Nguema, President of Equatorial Guinea, who is staying as his guest.

    The three-day non-aligned nations conference ended on Thursday (10 September) with an attempt to formulate a new look non-alignment for the 1970's. They reaffirmed their philosophy of keeping out of the big power blocks, and that the best way to achieve this was closer and more frequent contacts among themselves.

    Most the leaders of the more than 60 nations representing over half the world's under-privileged population agreed that economic independence and cooperation are the means to achieving material progress.

    A series of resolutions outlining their attitude towards major world issues, including Southern Africa, will be made public today.

    The returning presidents were met with a full guard of honour and among the VIP's welcoming them was Claude Ernest Ndalle Graille, Party General Secretary.
