Background: The South American Volleyball Championships reached their climax on October 29 with both the men's and women's finals being played in Lima. In the women's final Power, the only Peruvian team to reach the finals, beat Super Gasbras of Brazil in straight sets. Their domination of the net gave them a 15-12, 16-14, 15-12 victory. The men's final was contested by two Brazilian teams -- Minas Tenis and ADC Sul Brasileiro. Minas overpowered their opponents to gain the day's second straight sets victory. Despite Sul's resilient performance and strong ground work, the final score was 15-13, 15-7, 15-7 against them.
