  • Description

VIEWS ON INTERNATIONAL PROBLEMS WERE EXCHANGED TODAY (SATURDAY) WHEN PRESIDENT MOKTAR OULD DADDAH, OF MAURITANIA, AND PRESIDENT EMILE ZINSOU, OF DAHOMEY, HELD TALKS IN PARIS WITH PRESIDENT CHARLES DE GAULLE. THE AFRICAN LEADERS ARE BOTH ON A WEEK-LONG VISIT TO FRANCE, DURING WHICH THEY WILL ALSO HAVE DISCUSSIONS WITH FRENCH GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.

IT WAS THE SECOND MEETING FOR THE THREE PRESIDENTS, WHO ALSO HELD SHORT TALKS LAST NIGHT.

AT TODAY'S DISCUSSIONS, OVER LUNCH, THEY SPOKE ON A WIDE RANGE OF BILATERAL AND INTERNATIONAL PROBLEMS, INCLUDING THE MIDDLE EAST SITUATION AND THE WARSAW PACT INTERVENTION IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA.

LATER, PRESIDENT DADDAH SAID MAURITANIA AND FRANCE SHARED IDENTICAL VIEWS ON ALL INTERNATIONAL PROBLEMS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BREAKAWAY EASTERN NIGERIAN REGION OF BIAFRA.

PRESIDENT DADDAH, WHO ATTENDED LAST WEEK'S SUMMIT CONFERENCE IN ALGIERS OF THE ORGANISATION OF AFRICAN UNITY, SAID MAURITANIA'S POSITION WAS THAT OF THE O.A.U. WHICH BACKS THE NIGERIAN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. FRANCE SUPPORTS BIAFRA.
