    THE RACE WAS RUN OVER THE FULL MARATHON COURSE OF 42.195 KM (APPROX. 26.5 MILES) FROM THE WEST COAST PORT OF INCHON TO SEOUL STADIUM.

    MAMO WOLDE, OF ETHIOPIA, WHO WON THE 1968 MEXICO OLYMPIC MARATHON, CAME SECOND IN TWO HOURS, 22 MINUTES AND 7.2. SECONDS.

    SOUTH KOREA TOOK THE THIRD AND FOURTH PLACES.
