    Background: Huddersfield slithered into a late draw with Chelsea in London on Saturday afternoon when, in the closing stages of the game, Smith slipped through a tight Chelsea defence to slam the ball into the of the net to make the final score 2-2.

    The first half of the match was keenly fought around the midfield area, as both sides struggled to gain a first-goal advantage. But the half-time sore remained nil-all.

    In the second half, a fault in the Chelsea defence allowed Huddersfield's left winger Chapman to shoot his team into a shock lead. In the 63rd minute, Ho lins equalised for Chelsea with a 15-yard (13-metre) drive that left the Huddersfield goalkeeper Lawson stranded.

    Peter Osgood put Chelsea ahead with a powerful header in the 72nd minute, but only seconds before the final whistle, Huddersfield striker Smith equalised to leave the final score 2-2.

    SYNOPSIS: After a goal-less first half at Chelea's home ground in London on Saturday, Huddersfield stepped up attacking play in the second half. After a swift penetrating move, striker Chapman put his team ahead with a shock goal.

    But Chelsea replied with a 15-yard goal by John Hollins which left Huddersfield goalkeeper Lawson Stranded.

Then, the attack swung in the other direction and a long cross enabled Chelsea's star centre-forward Peter Osgood to put in a powerful header to make the source two one.

    Huddersfield, spurred on by their early goal and a large crowd of home supporters who had travelled down From Yorkshire, continued to harass the Chelsea defence. Seconds before the final whistle, Smith managed to find a gap in the backfield line and equalised with a fine goal. The final score--Huddersfield, tow, Chelsea two.
