Background: Security has been stepped up at Orly Airport near Paris following Monday's (13 January) bazooka attack on a Yugoslavian aircraft. One hundred extra police have been drafted to the airport, bringing the total number stationed there to 750.

The security police are to be supplemented by members of the Compagnie Republicaine de Security (CRS) para-military forces, and patrols along the 22-mile (35 kilometres) airport perimeter have been increased.

In the meantime French police are continuing their hunt for the men responsible for Monday's attack. According to onlookers, the rockets were fired from a terrace overlooking the airport tarmac -- narrowly missing an El Al'plane with 143 passengers on board -- and hit a Yugoslavian DC-9, injuring two people.

Two group have claimed responsibility for the bazooka attack -- the Paris-based Mohammed Boudia Arab commando group and an organisation known as the Young Croatian Army, based in the United States. The Palestine liberation Organisation has denied that the attack was part of an Arab campaign, and the Yugoslavian Government has rejected the feasibility of the Croatian separatists' claim.
