    A medical institute to study the problems of malnutrition was opened by the Nestle Foundation at Adiopodoume near the Ivory Coast capital of Abidjan on Monday (14 sept). The President of the Foundation, Professor Alexandre De Muralt, was on hand at the opening of a laboratory building which was built after several years of study and medical work in the Ivory Coast.

    The Minister of State, M. Auguste Denise, cut the ceremonial ribbon to inaugurate the foundation. Other Government Ministers at the opening included the Minister of Health. M. Aye, and the Agriculture Minister, M. Abdoulaye.

    Malnutrition accounts for a large number of hospital cases in the country and is a major cause of infant mortality. Among workers at the malnutrition institute will be bio-chemists, Doctors, nutrition and agricultural experts.

    The Nestle Foundation was set up during the centenary year of the company in 1966 and much of its work is dedicated to research in developing countries.
