    KING HASSAN II OF MOROCCO PRESIDED OVER THE CELEBRATIONS IN RABAT YESTERDAY (FRIDAY) ON THE 12TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE "REVOLUTION OF THE KING AND HIS PEOPLE" AGAINST THE FRENCH, WHICH LED TO MOROCCAN INDEPENDENCE.THE REVOLUTION IS OFFICIALLY SAID TO HAVE BEGUN ON THE 20TH OF AUGUST, 1953, WHEN THE FRENCH SENT KING HASSAN'S FATHER, KING MOHAMMED V, INTO EXILE.

    THE MAIN CEREMONY TOOK PLACE BEFORE THE ROYAL PALACE IN RABAT.AS WELL AS THE KING, HIS BROTHER AND SISTER, THE CEREMONY WAS ATTENDED BY GOVERNMENT, CIVIL AND MILITARY OFFICIALS, MEMBERS OF THE LIBERATION ARMY AND RESISTANCE COMMITTEE, WIDOWS AND ORPHANS OF THE REVOLUTION, AND REPRESENTATIVES OF SEVERAL ORGANISATIONS INCLUDING THE TRADE UNIONS.KING HASSAN ADDRESSED A BIG CROWD FROM THE DIAS.
