Some of the joy and glitter of Christmas has faded for a few of the unfortunate people of Godregraig - the village threatened by a moving mountain!
Hours after moving house because of the threat of more landslides -somebody broke into one of the houses stole the hot water system, pipes tanks boiler and all!
Even some of the electric fittings were pillaged while the family were trying to settle in to a new council flat and make the best of things this Christmas time!
The police are investigating.
Today seven more families were evacuated from Graig road. That brings the total to 5 families who will be spending Christmas in unfamiliar surroundings of council houses and flats at nearby Pontardawe. Some are staying with relatives until their housing problems can be sorted out. At the moment it doesn't look as if there'll be an emergency this weekend, but the water and highways engineers and other officials are keeping an eye on the situation.
Detectives were at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Blakesley today. It was Mrs. Blakesley on returning to her old home found that the hot water system had been stolen.
The thieves must have used some kind of transport to take the copper fittings away. But the task of the police is difficult because so many people and vehicles have been moving around in Craig Road in the last few days.
