    GAMBIA'S GOVERNING PARTY, THE PEOPLES PROGRESSIVE PARTY, RALLY IN THE CAPITAL, BATHURST.IT WAS THE PARTY'S FIRST SINCE THE COUNTRY ATTAINED SELF-GOVERNMENT ON THE 4TH OCTOBER THIS YEAR.

    THE RALLY, AT THE KING GEORGE MEMORIAL GROUND, WAS ATTENDED BY THE PRIME MINISTER, DR.DAVID JAWARA, AND OTHER SENIOR MINISTERS THE CROWD WERE TREATED TO AN EXCITING DISPLAY OF TRIBAL DANCING AND DRUMMING, BEFORE SPEECHES FROM PARTY LEADERS.

    THE PRIME MINISTER INTENDS THAT GAMBIA SHOULD BECOME FULLY INDEPENDENT, AS SOON AS REALISTICALLY POSSIBLE.ON THE QUESTION OF A POSSIBLE FUTURE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN GAMBIA AND SENEGAL, MR.JAWARA SAID THAT THE REPORT OF THE UNITED NATION'S TEAM WHICH HAS BEEN CONSIDERING THE PROBLEM, WOULD BE MOST CAREFULLY STUDIED BEFORE ANY DEFINITE DECISION IS MADE.
