Background: Molotov cocktail firebombs were hurled into three branches of the Bank of America and Italy in Rome on Saturday night (2 shots), apparently in protest against Monday's visit by United States Secretary of State, Dr. Henry Kissinger.

The bombs started small fires which were quickly doused by firemen.

Leaflets scattered outside one branch of the bank, which is affiliated to the Bank of America, said "Against the hangman Kissinger, Alongside the proletariat of the whole world. Against American imperialism."
Dr. Kisinger is due in Rome on Monday and the following day he will address the opening session of the World Food Conference.

There were no casualties in the bombings, and no-one as yet has claimed responsibility for the attack.

One of the bank branches in Saturday night's incident suffered a similar attack about three years ago, just prior to a visit to Rome by Dr. Kissinger's predecessor, Mr. William Rogers.
