    THE GHANAIAN MISSION TOURING EAST AND CENTRAL AFRICAN STATES WERE ADDRESSED BY THE MALAWI PRIME MINISTER, DR. HASTINGS KAMUZU BANDA, AT A DINNER IN BLANTYRE ON 25 MARCH. THEN, BEFORE LEAVING BLANTYRE FOR NAIROBI, ON 27 MARCH, THEY VISITED MALAWI'S YOUNG PIONEER TRAINING CAMP.

    AT THE DINNER DR. BANDA EXPLAINED HIS DECISION TO RECOGNISE THE NEW GHANAIAN GOVERNMENT. HE SAID THAT A DECISION NOT TO DO SO WOULD HAVE BEEN A FROM OF INTERFERENCE IN GHANA'S INTERNAL AFFAIRS-AND THE OVERTHROW OF PRESIDENT NKRUMAH HAD BEEN AN INTERNAL MATTER AND NOT ONE FOR OUTSIDE COUNTRIES.

    ON 26 MARCH, THE MISSION - WHICH INCLUDED SIR ARKU KORSAH, FORMER CHIEF JUSTICE, MR. JOE APPIAH, FORMER GHANAIAN OPPOSITION MEMBER, AND MAJOR GENERAL OTU- WENT TO AMALIKA, WHERE THE MALAWI GOVERNMENT HAS SET UP A TRAINING CAMP FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.

    THE MAIN FUNCTION OF THE CAMPS IS TO TRAIN THE YOUNG PEOPLE IN AGRICULTURE. THEY ARE ALSO TAUGHT CAMP CRAFT AND HYGIENE. THEY ALSO UNDERGO RIGOROUS PHYSICAL FITNESS PROGRAMMES.

    ON MARCH 27, THE GHANAIAN MISSION LEFT BLANTYRE TO CONTINUE THEIR TOUR. THEY FLEW TO UGANDA, VIA NAIROBI.
