    Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, affectionately known to all British troops during the second world war as "Monty", is directing his last exercise for Shape before retirement from active duty.

    The exercise is being held in Camp Voluceau in the presence of General Speidel, General Norstad, Lord Mountbatten, M. Spaak, and others.

    Described as a 'Command Post Exercise', its purpose is to study the major problems expected to confront Allied Command Europe over a long period of time, to see how best they can produce the necessary forces in accordance with practical realities and financial possibilities. The proceedings are presented in English French German Italian Greek and Turkish.
