    Life is a little easier in Leopoldville these days. For the present the people are more relaxed and happier and are going about as they used to without fear of curfew or beatings. In the market it is business as usual for the Three million or more Leopoldville Congolese, here you can buy anything from a Toothpick to a Fish .... Fruits abound Bananas as plentiful as ever, Congolese carry them children everywhere, and the baby just has to wait till mommas finished her shopping ..... In the Town centre modern self service stores serve the few Europeans still in the Congo, not many Congolese can afford these prices a shirt costs about 2 pounds Ten Slgs, and Groceries are expensive because of import duties, the goods are mostly from the continent. The native congolese lives in a small brick or wooden house, where Lumumba started his political meetings (see shots of village 4 miles from Leo) The European lives in Apartments built 5 years ago which overlook the city, most of these blgs are at least 14 stories high. Mainly rented by Airline Personnel and Government officials. At night the locals have a choice of 3 night spots to enjoy themselves, UN soldiers dance with congolese girls, European girls are rare here.
