Background: An important loan agreement was signed at the headquarters of the African Development Fund in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Wednesday (4 February).
The fund granted the Government of Togo a loan of GBP145,000 sterling (290,000 U.S. dollars) for a road feasibility study in the interior of the country.
The agreement was signed by Mr. A. Mivedor, Minister of Public Works of the Republic of Togo, and Mr. Abdelwahab Labidi, President of the African Development Fund.
The Government of Togo attaches high priority to the study as it is a pre-requisite to the improvement of the Yegue - Langadou road in the Plateau region of Togo. This has important economic development implications as the area generates nearly 90 per cent of the country's agricultural revenue.
