    An international agreement providing for the establishment of an african Regional Centre for Training in Aerial Surveys was signed in Lagos on Friday (6 August). The first countries to sign the agreement were Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal. Dahomey and Liberia are expected to sign the agreement later.

    SYNOPSIS: The Ministry of External Affairs in Lagos was the scene on Friday of the signing of an international agreement providing for the establishment of an African Regional Centre for Training in Aerial Surveys. Those countries taking part were Nigeria, Senegal and Ghana.

    The centre is supported by the Economic Commission for Africa. When it's fully established, it will provide training for additional African personnel in various fields of aerial survey work.

    It's expected that Dahomey and Liberia will also sign the agreement soon.

    The programme is expected to stimulate economic growth through greater use of natural resources.

    Representing Nigeria was the Director of Federal Surveys. The Ghana High Commissioner in Nigeria and the Senegalese Ambassador to Lagos represented their countries for the signing ceremony.
