He was met at the airport by his british opposite number, Mr. Edward Heath. The two men were in a jovial mood when they met. Both of them have been confirmed Europeans for two decades, and they met for the first time nine years ago when Mr. Heath was Britain's chief negotiator during her first application.

For the other side of the picture, we refer you to Production No.7276/71, also serviced today, in which the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia attacks Britain on the entry terms.

SYNOPSIS: The Prime Minister of Italy, Signor Colombo, arrived in London on Sunday for discussions on the terms that Britain won in Luxembourg last week for entry into the European common Market. He was met by his British opposite number, Mr. Edward Heath. The two Prime Ministers were in a good mood. The first time they met was nine years ago when Mr. Heath was the chief negotiator in Britain's first bid to join the Common Market. Now, the major hurdle in Britain's entry bid -- the terms -- has been passed. Signor Colombo is the first of the Common Market Heads of State to visit Britain since the end of the negotiations. He went with Mr. Heath to the British Prime Minister's country residence, Chequers.
