    Among early voters in the Tananarive Municipal elections Sept 12, were President Tsiranana of Madagascar and his wife. Victor in the recent General Elections - his Social Democratic Party won a sweeping majority - M. Tsiranana was lending support to his candidates attempt to gain control of the capital's affairs.

    Independent since July 31 this year, Madagascar - now known as the Malagasey Republic - remains a member of the French Community. President Tsiranana, known to have strong pro-French and pro-West learnings, is chiefly opposed politically bh te independent "Third Force", a coalition headed by three rival nationalist leaders. The island Republic's Communist Party - the A.K.F.M. - is still a minor party.

    President Tsiranana recently said the new Government would not be formed until after the Oct 4 Senate elections. He added that M. Rabemananjara - a "Third Force" leader who was exiled after the abortive 1947 rebellion against French rule - could have a place in the Government if he wished. M. Rabemananjara returned to Madagascar this summer with M. Tsirnana's consent.
