    MR WEST'S NEW ROOM IN LIGHT AND AIRY. HE'S REPORTED TO HAVE JOKED WITH A PHOTOGRAPHER: "THE ONLY TROUBLE I HAVE HERE IS WITH THE MENU -- THERE'S SO MUCH CAVIARE." HE'S TOLD DOCTORS HE COULD "DO WITH A DRINK", BUT SO FAR HE'S BEEN STICKING TO NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS -- FOURS CANS OF CHILLED COCA-COLA A DAY.

    A SURGEON IS REPORTED AS SAYING OR MR WEST: "WE ARE ALL VERY PLEASED WITH HIM". MR WEST RECEIVED THE HEART OF A 26-YEAR-OLD MAN, IRISH--BORN PATRICK RYAN, A BUILDING WORKER, WHO WAS KILLED IN A FALL FROM A BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
