    SIX VIETNAMESE CHILDREN DIED AND TWO AMERICAN OFFICERS WERE WOUNDED IN AN EXPLOSION IN CAN THO, THE SECOND BIGGEST CITY IN SOUTH VIETNAM. THE EXPLOSION, SET OFF BY THE VIETCONG, DEMOLISHED A HOUSE NEXT TO AN AMERICAN MILITARY OFFICE.

    ONE OF THE CHILDREN KILLED WAS ONLY 12 MONTHS OLD.

    THE CHILDREN KILLED WERE IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE WHEN THE PLASTIC CHARGE EXPLODED.

    THE EXPLOSION DAMAGED THE AMERICAN MILITARY OFFICE.

    THIS WAS THE LATEST IN A SERIES OF EXPLOSIONS IN SOUTH VIETNAMESE CITIES SINCE THE 19TH OF SEPTEMBER. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE EXPLOSION AMERICAN SOLDIERS SURROUNDED THE AREA AND BLOCKED OFF ROADS.
