Background: The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Shaikh Khalifa ibn Zaid, arrived in Cairo yesterday (Saturday) for a five-day visit. The Shaikh is also Prime Minister of Abu Dhabi, and Minister of Defence and Finance: and the Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Aziz Sidky, was at Cairo airport to meet him.
The Rule of Abu Dhabi, Shaikh Zaid, was himself in Cairo just over a year ago. But since then there have been substantial changes in the Arbaian Gulf area, affecting the foreign relations of the states there. The Union of Arab Emirates was established last December, with Shaikh Zaid as its President.
This will be the second time within a month that the Crown Prince will have the chance to discuss common problems with one of the major Arab states. President Nimeiry of Sudan paid an official visit to Abu Dhabi, and also to Qatar, towards the end of April - the first Arab leader to do so since the setting up of the new Federation.
