    IN ACCRA, A SWISS FOOD FESTIVAL WAS OPENED ON SATURDAY. THE FESTIVAL, BEING HELD IN AN ACCRA NIGHT CLUB, WAS GIVEN AN OFFICIAL SEND-OFF ON THURSDAY, BEFORE THE FORMAL OPENING.

    THE FESTIVAL IS BEING JOINTLY ORGANISED BY THE INTER-CONTINENTAL HOTELS, AND SWISS-AIR. CHEFS AND WAITERS, DRESSED IN TRADITIONAL SWISS COSTUME, DEMONSTRATED WAYS OF PREPARING THE VARIOUS DISHES WHICH GUESTS SAMPLED ALONG WITH GLASSES OF SWISS WINES.

    THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE FESTIVAL, ACCORDING TO A SWISS-AIR SPOKESMAN, IS TO CARRY NEW IDEAS IN THE ART OF COOKERY TO PEOPLE OF OTHER COUNTRIES, AND TO INTRODUCE SWISS DISHES TO FOREIGNERS.

    AMONG THE VARIETY OF DISHES TO BE SEEN AND TASTED, WERE A FONDUE, AND A DISH PREPARED FROM BEEF FILLET WITH SPICED BUTTER IN VEGETABLES, AND GOLDEN FRIED POTATOES.
