Background: The small town of Bormes, near Toulon at the Cote d'Azur, is renowned for its mimosa shrubs which have earned it the melodious name of "Bormes Les Mimosas".

Every year, when the fragrant yellow blossoms are out in their thousands, Bormes celebrates "Mimosa Day", Feb 19. Crowds of visitors and tourists gather here to watch the annual procession of flower bedecked floats, from which the prettiest girls of the towns scatter handfuls of blossoms among the lines of spectators.
