    Background: Today the VC 10 of british united airways arrived at Ndola airport bringing with it a batch of 14 young(ish) nurses from the UK. These girls, known locally as 'Sunshine Girls' are to take up positions in the once badly under-staffed hospitals of Zambia. As Nurse Catherine Reilly walked down the gangway she became the 100th nurse to arrive in Zambia.

    The nurses were met at Ndola Airport by Mr Munukayumbna Sipalo, Minister of Health, Mr Andrew Mutemba, Under-Minister for the Western Province, the equivalent of the Colonial Provincial Commissioner and Dr Rittey, the Director of the Zambian Medical Services.
