    A delegation from the Moslem World League visited the island of Mindanao, in the southern Philippines, to investigate reports of renewed fighting between local Moslems and Government forces.

    The four-man delegation was led by Saudi Arabia's Consul-General to Singapore, Mr. Syed Ibrahim Alsagaf.

    Last December, skirmishes between moslem rebels and Government forces which had been continuing for months, came to a head in Mindanao's capital city, Marawi. The Moslem population stages an armed uprising against President Ferdinand Marcos' decision to declares martial law.

    Hundreds of Moslem rebels, Government troops and civilians died in heavy fighting on Mindanao in February and March. At the height of the fighting, the Philippine Air Force used napalm in attacks on rebel positions.

    During their visit to the island, the Moslem World League delegation planned to interview hundreds of Moslems and Christians as part of its investigations into the causes of the fighting.
