After a review by King Paul and Crown Prince Constantine at Elefsis airbase near Athens, Greece, Aug 12, a Greek light infantry regiment sailed from Piraeus, the port of Athens, for Cyprus in three Greek Navy transport carriers.

Serving under the London and Zurich accord on Cyprus, the Regiment will be stationed in the island with Turkish troops. The Greek troops, specially trained and equipped for their new duties, were due to arrive Aug 15, eve of the proclamation of the Cypriot Republic.

The troops - 950 of them - are under the command of Colonel D. Arbouzis who represented his country at the Greek-Turkish Cypriot talks on the military clauses of the Cyprus accord. He is also former commander of the Greek expeditionary force in Korea.
