    The Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, continued his tour of the middle East on Tuesday (3 July) with a two-day visit to the Arab Emirates. It was the sixth leg of his tour which has taken him to Syria, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar.

    SYNOPSIS: Colonel Gaddafi was greeted on his arrival in Abu Dhabi by the President, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan' the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed; and the Deputy Premier, Sheikh Bin Mohamed.

    He also met a number of senior officials and members of the diplomatic crops. Colones Gaddafi has been holding talks with leaders throughout the Middle East to urge them to carry out the resolutions adopted at the Baghdad Arab summit. He has stressed that Arabs must take a unified stand on Israel and the Palestinian situation. Each country he has visited has reaffirmed what they call 'unreserved support for the struggles of the Arab Palestinians."
    Colonel Gaddafi held two days of talks with Sheikh Zayed. Abu Dhabi's Fund for Arab Economic Development once helped subsidise development programs in Egypt. Colonel Gaddafi has condemned Egypt throughout his tour because of President Anwar Sadat's peace initiative with Israel. Abu Dhabi continues to give substantial aid to the Palestine Liberation Organisation. During his current tour, Colonel Gaddafi has also asked for full Arab support for what he calls the 'liberation struggles of African people for the right to self-determination'.
