  • Description

SIGNOR ALDO MORO'S CENTRE-LEFT ITALIAN GOVERNMENT WAS TODAY (THURSDAY) SWORN IN AT THE QUIRINAL PALACE BEFORE PRESIDENT ANTONIO SEGNI. PARTNERS IN THE COALITION, ANNOUNCED ON WEDNESDAY EVENING AFTER THREE WEEKS OF DELICATE NEGOTIATIONS, ARE THE CHRISTIAN DEMOCRATS, THE REPUBLICANS AND - FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 16 YEARS, THE NENNI SOCIALISTS.

SIGNOR PIETRO NENNI IS DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER.

SIGNOR MORO, SECRETARY OF THE CHRISTIAN DEMOCRATIC PARTY, HAD EARLIER FORMALLY AGREED TO LEAD THE NEW GOVERNMENT. OBSERVERS CREDIT HIM WITH MUCH OF THE SUCCESS IN BRINGING THE SOCIALISTS BACK INTO THE GOVERNMENT.

SIGNOR NENNI, THE ITALIAN SOCIALIST LEADER, SAID TODAY THAT BY JOINING THE NEW GOVERNMENT HIS PARTY HAD LEFT A "GHETTO OF ISOLATION." "I AM CHANGING MY STUDY," HE SAID, "BUT I CONTINUE TO WORK FOR THE SAME CAUSE."
SIGNOR GIUSEPPE SARAGAT, REGARDED AS PRO-WESTERN IN HIS VIEWS, IS FOREIGN MINISTER.

THE 26-MEMBER CABINET CONSISTS OF 16 CHRISTIAN DEMOCRATS, SIX SOCIALISTS, THREE SOCIAL DEMOCRATS AND ONE REPUBLICAN. SIGNOR MORO SAID HE WOULD GO BEFORE PARLIAMENT NEXT WEEK TO SEEK THE REQUIRED CONFIDENCE VOTES IN THE SENATE AND THE CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES.
